Baptist College chapter of the American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society selected the student chapter at Baptist College to receive a Commendable award for its activities conducted during the 2016-2017 academic year. Additionally, Dr. Charity Brannen, faculty advisor of the chapter, received a special commendation. In her congratulatory letter, Dr. Allison Campbell, president of the ACS, recognized Dr. Brannen’s contributions: “Few faculty members are willing to make the great commitment of time and energy that a successful chapter requires.

Cultural Exchange Club wins Student Leadership Award from Jenzabar Foundation

Baptist College’s Cultural Exchange club recently won the Jenzabar Foundation’s Student Leadership Award for 2017. The Jenzabar Foundation’s Student Leadership Awards is an annual competition that recognizes student-led campus groups and projects that have made a significant contribution to better the world outside of their institutions of higher education.

The thirty-first commencement ceremony of the Baptist College of Health Sciences was held on April 13 at Bellevue Baptist Church. President Betty Sue McGarvey presided over the ceremony. Dr. William Cochran, chair of the College Board of Directors, introduced the featured speaker, Mr. Jason Little, M.S.H.A., M.B.A. Mr. Little is the President and CEO of Baptist Memorial Health Care.  Dr. Cochran presented diplomas to 131 graduates at the 4:00 p.m. ceremony.

Congratulations to the Baptist College case competition team of Krista Rinehart, Bretley Agee, Amanda Deering, Taylor Wisdom, and Sarah Johnson on their victory over Christian Brothers University on Tuesday evening at the 2nd Annual Inter-Professional Health Care Case Study Challenge.  This is the 2nd victory for Baptist College.

Baptist College of Health Sciences received approval from the Tennessee Board of Nursing to offer the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The first cohort of students to begin the post BSN to DNP Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program is targeted for January, 2018.

Lifeblood's Healthcare Group of the Year

Baptist College of Health Sciences was honored as the 2015 "Healthcare Group of the Year" during Lifeblood's seventh Annual Awards Luncheon. Baptist Memorial Health Care was honored as the 2015 “Lifesaver of the Year.” Last year, Baptist team members and Baptist College of Health Sciences students donated 900 units of blood.

Congratulations to the students and faculty from Baptist College for winning the inaugural Baptist College/CBU Inter-Professional Health Care Case Study Challenge. Dr. David Rosenthal, professor and chair of health care management, hosted the competition on Nov 14th, held on the CBU campus in Memphis, TN. The competition was created to foster and promote academic excellence, collaboration, and collegiality among and between the students at Baptist College and Christian Brothers University.
