Baptist College of Health Sciences is a four-year college offering
baccalaureate degrees in Nursing and in several Allied Health areas. The
professional and clinical Nursing courses usually begin in the junior
year after all general studies requirements and pre-requisites have been
met. In the Nursing major, clinical education courses begin three times
per year. In each of the Fall and Summer trimesters, up to 72 students
are scheduled to begin in each class. In addition, in the Spring trimester,
up to 40 students are enrolled in the evening/weekend cohort. Baptist
College is unique in this region because there is not a two-step admissions
process.
Successful applicants are admitted to the College and the Nursing major
at the same time. Unlike some other nursing programs in the region, Baptist
College does not expect you to complete all your pre-requisites before
enrolling. On the contrary, as a baccalaureate degree granting college
offering all necessary general studies courses, we prefer that you enroll
as soon as possible and earn credits for your pre-requisites at Baptist
College. Late transfers (i.e., those students with a large number of transfer
credit hours) will not be admitted to Baptist College unless Nursing slots
are available.
First priority on clinical progression into the Nursing major goes to
students who are already enrolled at the College. Students who begin with
us as freshmen or who are early transfer students are given priority.
The dates posted under "Day Track" and "Evening/Weekend
Track" are the earliest times for progression into professional and
clinical Nursing courses for students who are not currently enrolled at
Baptist College. Should space become available in the Nursing progression
for others to begin professional and clinical nursing courses, currently
enrolled students -- based on seniority -- will receive first consideration
for movement into earlier progression slots.
