Transfer Student Information

The criteria stated below are minimum criteria for consideration of an applicant, but in no way guarantee admission. Students who do not meet the minimum criteria by the stated deadlines will not be considered for admission. If applicants have attended or are currently enrolled in another college(s), admission to Baptist Memorial College of Health Sciences is provisional, pending receipt of a final transcript from each college attended, documenting compliance with all admissions criteria.

   Nursing General Transfer Info

   The transfer applicant with 25 or more college semester credit hours
   (excluding developmental or remedial courses) must:

  1. have earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale on all college work (not just transfer hours accepted) from a regionally accredited college or university. Transfer students must be in good standing and eligible to return to any institution previously attended.
  2. earn a minimum score of 60 on each of the mathematics and reading scales on the Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test (HOBET).
  3. provide three completed Recommendation Forms.
  4. meet all General Performance Standards.
  5. Permanent residents must submit a TOEFL score.  Please refer to the “Attention Permanent Resident” section below.

Submission of an ACT is optional for transfer applicants with 25 or more credit hours.

   The transfer applicant with less than 25 college semester credit hours
   (excluding developmental or remedial courses) must:

  1. have graduated from an accredited high school with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  2. submit an ACT of 20 or above.
  3. have earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale on all college work (not just transfer hours accepted) from a regionally accredited college or university. Transfer students must be in good standing and eligible to return to any institution previously attended.
  4. earn a minimum score of 60 on each of the mathematics and reading scales on the Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test (HOBET).
  5. provide three completed Recommendation Forms.
  6. meet all General Performance Standards.

ATTENTION PERMANENT RESIDENTS

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of students whose native tongue is not English to use and to understand English as it is spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings. The TOEFL is provided by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Beginning with applicants for the Spring 2007 trimester and forward, all BCHS applicants whose native tongue is not English will be required to submit, as part of their admissions requirements, a TOEFL score of 550 or above. Students who have TOEFL scores over a year old will be required to submit new scores.

Applicants may register for the TOEFL through ETS and may take the exam at a local testing center in Memphis. Call the BCHS Admissions Office at 901-575-2247 if you need additional information.
