Federal Aid    Scholarships & Awards    Tuition & Fees  High School Senior or High School Graduate Admissions Criteria The criteria stated below are minimum criteria for consideration of an applicant, but in no way guarantee admission. Students who do not meet the minimum criteria by the stated deadlines will not be considered for admission. If applicants are currently enrolled in high school or are high school graduates with no college credit, admission to Baptist Memorial College of Health Sciences is provisional, pending receipt of a final transcript documenting compliance with all admissions criteria.

   The entering freshman applicants must:

1. graduate from an accredited high school with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
2. complete the following high school courses with a grade of “C” (2.0) or above in each course:
   • 4 credits English
   • 2 credits College Preparatory Math (algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry)
   • 2 credits Laboratory Science (biology, chemistry, or anatomy & physiology)
3. achieve an ACT composite score of 20 or higher or equivalent SAT score (950).
4. earn a minimum score of 60 on each of the mathematics and reading scales on the Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test (HOBET).
5. provide three completed Recommendation Forms.
6. meet all General Performance Standards.
7. Permanent residents must submit a TOEFL score.  Please refer to the “Attention Permanent Resident” section below.

   Your application file must be complete by the stated deadline for the trimester you are applying.

   Admissions Checklist:

• Submit a BCHS admissions application with the $25 fee.
• Provide an official copy of your high school transcript with courses and grades completed to date. Request a final official transcript from your high school immediately following graduation. Acceptance into Baptist College is contingent upon the receipt of the final transcript in the Admissions Office.
• Submit an official copy of your ACT score if it is not listed on your high school transcript. The BCHS ACT code is 3949.
• Submit three completed Recommendation Forms from teachers, employers or personal references. Family members may not complete recommendation forms.
• Sign and submit the General Performance Standards form.
• Schedule the HOBET when contacted by the College Admissions Office. This admissions test is administered at BCHS by individual appointment.
• Complete a physical examination and submit the student health form provided by the College. This form requires a list of all previous immunizations.
• Submit proof of health insurance coverage.
• Complete a personal interview if requested by the College.
• Submit a $100.00 non-refundable matriculation fee, upon acceptance to the College.
• Permanent residents must submit a TOEFL score.  Please refer to the “Attention Permanent Resident” section below.

ATTENTION PERMANENT RESIDENTS

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of students whose native tongue is not English to use and to understand English as it is spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings. The TOEFL is provided by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Beginning with applicants for the Spring 2007 trimester and forward, all BCHS applicants whose native tongue is not English will be required to submit, as part of their admissions requirements, a TOEFL score of 550 or above. Students who have TOEFL scores over a year old will be required to submit new scores.

Applicants may register for the TOEFL through ETS and may take the exam at a local testing center in Memphis. Call the BCHS Admissions Office at 901-575-2247 if you need additional information.
