Academic Dismissal

General Studies: A student on academic probation will be allowed 12 credit hours to achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Any student who does not achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 in the 12 credit hours taken while on probation will be academically dismissed from Baptist College.

Professional Majors: Any student who fails to perform satisfactorily in two professional courses* or who fails a repeated professional course will be academically dismissed from Baptist College. Satisfactory performance in nursing courses with a clinical component is defined as both a grade of "C" or better for the theory portion and an "S" for the clinical portion or practicum. Senior Seminar, NSG445, which focuses on the NCLEX-RN review and the comprehensive exit exam, and Respiratory Care Symposium, RCP415, which focuses on preparation for the NBRC examinations, may be repeated one time regardless of prior failure in professional courses. A second failure in this course will result in dismissal from Baptist College. Satisfactory performance in allied health courses is defined as a grade of "C" or better for both theory and clinical courses.

Students who are dismissed from Baptist College are not eligible for readmission except as indicated in the section on readmission.

*Allied Health Science courses required in degree plans are considered professional courses for Allied Health majors.
