Frequently Asked Questions - RN-BSN Option

What are the benefits of this program over other nursing programs offering a BSN for registered nurses?

The program addresses the needs of adult learns by offering flexibility and choice with a combination of online and blended (hybrid) course delivery. In addition, Baptist College of Health Sciences has an excellent graduation rate for completion students.

How long does it take to complete degree requirements for the BSN?

Once the prerequisite general education courses have been completed, the time required for the nursing major is 12 months. The program begins each January with anticipated graduation the following December. However, the curriculum can be tailored to the needs of the student by lengthening the program of study to 18-24 months.

Is it necessary to complete the prerequisites before beginning the curriculum listed on the sample plan?

The dean works closely with each student to design a progression plan that addresses the individual needs of the student.  However, it is strongly recommended that all prerequisite courses be completed before enrolling in the major.

May I take prerequisites at another college while enrolled in the 12 month program?

Once enrolled in the completion program, all prerequisites not already completed must be taken at Baptist College unless special permission is obtained from the Dean of General Studies.

My sciences are more than five years old.  Do I have to retake them?

By virtue of their clinical experience, RN-BSN completion students are exempt from the five year limit on science courses.
