Karen Smith Director, Campus Ministries

Karen is the director of campus ministries at Baptist College, where she started in December 2003.

She is a graduate of Memphis Theological Seminary, where she earned her masters of arts in religion. She is also a graduate of Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, where she earned her BS in psychology.

Her professional experiences include being the cofounder with her husband, Kerry, of Appalachian Outreach at Carson Newman College, which is a ministry that cares for the people of the Appalachian areas in East Tennessee and in Southeast Kentucky. She and Kerry were also new church planters in Thompson Falls, Montana, and in Easley, South Carolina, resulting in thriving, growing churches. She has also been a resort missionary in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and a youth minister in several churches in the Memphis metropolitan area. Her husband is an artist and they have two children, Jonathan and Allie, and two dogs, Mac the chocolate lab and Buddy, a dachshund who orchestrates the activities of the household. Mrs. Smith welcomes your questions and inquiry into the campus ministries program of Baptist College and can be contacted at 901-572-2475 or via e-mail at karen.smith@bchs.edu.
