How to Apply for Financial Aid
  • Obtain the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from your high school guidance office, or on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov or you can call 1-800-4FED-AID
  • Receive an application confirmation notice from the Department of Education.
  • Gather required financial records, complete the application.
  • In some cases, applicants may be requested to provide additional information or documentation before the application can be processed. It is essential that you respond to such requests as soon as possible so that the processing of your application is not delayed.
  • Each application for assistance will be reviewed, and students will automatically be considered for any awards for which they are eligible.
  • Notification of awards will be sent by the Financial Aid Office.
  • The student and family are assured that information about their family’s financial circumstances will be held in strict confidence by the Financial Aid Office. Free debt counseling services are available to all applicants.

  • To sign an online FAFSA form, the student and parents (if student is dependant) need to E-Sign the FAFSA form. To do this you will need a PIN (Personal Identification Number).

It is recommended that you apply for your FAFSA by March 1 if you are interested in applying for Institutional Scholarships. See under Scholarships and Grants.

If you are a Tennessee resident, it is also recommended that you apply for your FAFSA as early as possible each year in order to be considered for the Tennessee Student Aid Association grant.  

The Financial Aid Office recommends that if you are a returning student to BCHS and not interested or not eligible for the above, to have your FAFSA done by June 1 for the fall enrollment.
