Mission


The mission of the Medical Radiography Major is to graduate competent, entry-level radiographers reflecting the mission of the college and the philosophy of the allied health division.


Goals


The graduates of the medical radiography major will:




    • Function as a competent entry-level radiographers.   

      • Student Learning Outcomes

        • Students will practice radiation safety.

After completing this program, what career opportunities, other than x-ray, are available?

Opportunities exist for experienced radiographers in advanced imaging modalities such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography and Interventional Radiology, as well as other modalities in Radiology.

What type of degree is earned upon the successful completion of this program?

Graduates receive a Baccalaureate Degree in Health Sciences.

How many applicants do you accept?

Approximately 20 students per year are accepted to the major.

When is the application deadline?

The admission’s deadline is June 1 of each year.

If I have previous college coursework, are those credits transferable?

Admissions and Records evaluates transcripts to determine transferable credit.

What else should I know about this program?

This program is a full-time program that is time intensive.

What is the work environment like?

Radiographers assist and perform a variety of diagnostic procedures using ionizing radiation to image the human body. Radiographers are not limited to radiology departments.  They also work in emergency rooms, operating rooms, intensive care units, nurseries and patient rooms.
